What is QPR?

QPR is designed to give members of the general public the basic skills necessary to recognize the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. The QPR Gatekeeper Trainings are funded by the County of San Diego HHSA, and are offered at no cost to attendees on behalf of the San Diego County Suicide Prevention Council.

What CPR does for the heart, QPR does for the mind.

As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper, you will learn to:

  • Recognize warning signs of suicide

  • Know how to offer hope

  • Know how to get help and save a life

Training Length: 2-3 hours in length

Audience: San Diego County residents in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide: parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others.
